Prevention Education and Community Outreach

Multicultural Outreach to Underserved Communities: To improve accessibility of Alternative Horizons' services to underserved communities, AH  has a paid staff member who is bilingual and bicultural, providing education, translation, advocacy, information, referrals, crisis intervention, and assistance with documentation. This service serving the Latino/Hispanic community began in 1997, expanding in 2005 and again in 2008 to increase services to all  underserved communities in La Plata and San Juan Counties.

Community Education: AH facilitates general educational presentations within the community, with specific prevention curriculums designed for middle school, high school, and young adult age groups. AH also provides workplace presentations on domestic abuse for information and education.
